We have three phone lines at DoES Liverpool set up using VOIP services from Andrews & Arnold. This page lists how they are setup rather than any etiquette for answering them, for that see the Answering the telephone page.

Numbers

Standard phone line - 0151 703 0081‬

This is our standard phone line for enquiries that is listed on our website, it doesn't get a lot of calls as we do prefer email but there's generally 4-5 per week and they should be answered politely, as mentioned on the Answering the telephone page.

This line also has voicemail which will go to [email protected].

Calling locations:

  • Main Room Yealink
  • Main Room Cordless
  • Room 29 Yealink
  • Events Room Yealink (Added during COVID-19 lockdown)

Intercom - 0151 660 6281

This number is set up specifically to take calls from the intercom and should not be used for any other use (it currently does not block other numbers but it might be an idea).

Calling locations:

  • Main Room Yealink
  • Main Room Cordless
  • Room 29 Yealink
  • Events Room Yealink

Emergency number - ‭0151 660 6999‬

Our emergency phone line, this goes directly to the Directors personal mobiles and should only be used in emergencies, such as listed on the Out of Hours page.

Calling locations:

  • Directors Personal Mobiles

Other phone number - 0151 660 6282

We have now added an extra phone number that has previously been used to just ring the events room phone. This may currently be set up to pass through to Find Out so should not be used. This may have been a temporary measure that could now be disabled and the number cancelled.

Calling locations:

  • Find Out personal mobile.

Hardware

All devices use DHCP to get their IP address. When we've had interruptions in internet access we may have needed to reboot devices although they probably reconnect on their own soon enough.

OBi100

Used for the cordless phone. This is a device that takes power and an ethernet connection, and then provides a standard phone connection to an old fashioned cordless phone.

The administration interface is available on the network at http://10.0.15.3

Main web page should show "SP1 Service Status" and "SP2 Service Status" of "Registered"

To modify config go to Service Providers -> ITSP Profile A or B -> SIP. The following properties have been set:

  • ProxyServer: voiceless.aa.net.uk
  • RegistrarServer: voiceless.aa.net.uk

To modify authentication properties go to Voice Services -> SP1/2 Service then set:

  • AuthUserName: +441517030081 or another number
  • AuthPassword: password taken from the password list

You can also disable a phone number on the Voice Services -> SP1/2 Service screen.

Click the Submit button at the bottom of forms to save. You will likely need to reboot the device, this can be done using the Reboot button at the top right of the page.

Pretty much all other properties on this device are at the default setting.

On this device SP1 is +441517030081 and SP2 is +441516606281

To find out the IP address from the phone itself dial ***1. More instructions can be found here: https://www.callcentric.com/support/device/obihai/obi100

Yealink SIP-T20P

yealink-phone

We have various of these. To find out the IP address press the OK button. To turn the volume of the ringer down or up press the left or right of the buttons highlighted in the photo above. You should generally only need to modify the volume of the ringer on the phone in the events room.

Firmware upgrades cannot be found here (as the phone is end of life): http://support.yealink.com/documentFront/forwardToDocumentDetailPage?documentId=19

Had issues upgrading from Safari but Chrome worked fine (although Safari has worked before).

The administration interfaces can be found here:

The main room and room 29 devices are setup for the intercom and the general phone lines, the events room device is set up for the intercom phone line and also a second intercom line that currently is labelled as "Find Out" by the door. Setting up the lines are done under the Account tab with the following properties:

  • Account: Account 1/Account 2
  • Line Active: Enabled (or Disabled if not active!)
  • Label: Door/Enquiries
  • Display Name: Door/Enquiries
  • Register Name: +441517030081 or another number
  • User Name: +441517030081 or another number
  • Password: password taken from the password list
  • SIP Server 1:
    • Server Host: voiceless.aa.net.uk

Click the confirm button at the bottom of the form. A reboot will not be needed. It might take a few minutes to show up as "Registered" though.

Changing the ringtone can be done by clicking the "Basic" menu option on the left under the Account tab.

Most other settings will have been left on default.

Account Configuration

Billing is handled at https://accounts.aa.net.uk/aal/ - account details are on the password list. We virtually never need to access this but this would be where the direct debit is modified (I imagine).

Changes to the VOIP services are handled at: https://control.aa.net.uk - account details are on the password list.

Most changes are made by clicking on the phone number on the main screen. This gives you three tabs:

  • General
    • Just has the address that would be given to emergency services if you called 999 from this number.
  • Incoming
    • Settings for what to do with incoming calls. The SIP password is shown at the top if you hover over the box. It can be regenerated by clicking the "Generate Password" button but obviously this will force you to change the password on all devices.
    • Voicemail is enabled on the enquiries line and the messages are emailed to the organisers.
    • This screen shows the number of devices that are logged in via SIP which can be useful.
    • Forwarding of calls can also be setup on this screen under Target -> Also Ring, simply select a number of seconds (zero for straight away) after which to ring the number and enter a phone number in the box, e.g. 07712345678. We have had issues in the past where this didn't work and we had to call A&A to get it done by them. You can have numbers here and it will still call the SIP phones if they are setup.
  • Outgoing
    • Settings around outgoing calls. The IP access list is here although this affects both outgoing and incoming calls. This is in fact the only setting we change on here:
      • IP Access List: 185.135.107.82

Any changes must be saved (or applied) with the buttons on the top of the screen.

Intercom Hardware

We don't have much to do with the hardware of the intercom on the front door. This is managed by Tam Doerfel Hill. John once tried to add a name on an unnamed button by unscrewing the screws but it turns out you don't need to do this.
