Glues and solvents

Hot glue gun

The least toxic, easiest to use and most temporary solution for your sticking together needs. It's kept in the drawers with glue sticks (which can be purchased from Home and Bargains) and needs to be warmed up.

Wood glue

Big green tube the size of a large washing up bottle contains a white gunk that is gentle on your hands and skin. Takes 24 hours to set properly, and you should wipe off the excess with a damp cloth. Avoid gluing your wood to the table.

PVC Cement

Black swan brand in a metal can with applicator brush in lid. Good for gluing and sealing PVC pipe fittings (that can dry fit) and has been used on PVC fabrics to patch holes.

Acrylic welding glue

The big brown smoked glass jar contains an acrylic welding glue that is brushed in and taken up by acrylic via capillary action between the plates.

Neoprene glue

Bostick 2402 2 part solvent. Can be used without the second part. The best glue for expanded neoprene on wetsuits etc. Cements together the foamed material, but you have to surface sew the lining afterwards.

Gorilla glue

The same gooey stuff as builder's foam, but less expanding and apparently bonds to water. Doesn't seem to do a lot of good anywhere, but it's marketed extremely well. We have at least three pots of it, including a large one.

Plastic weld solvent

This is in a small carboard box that used to also contain a very effective syringe applicator, so that a little bit went a very long way. Sticks together snapped 3D prints better than new and allows you to then print and glue on reinforcements. Now waiting on a resupply
