This page lists some of the common CAD and CAM software that DoES members use - including 3D, 2D and electronics (schematic and PCB).

3D Graphics

If you're new to 3D modelling, here's a series of video tutorials that teach you the basics.

  • Browser-based
  • As good as solidworks!
  • See Julian for help
  • Open source
  • Can generate toolpaths
  • See Martin for help
  • Browser-based
  • Programmatically create 3D models
  • Programatically create 3D models (and many other things too)
  • It is possible to generate 3D forms for STL export
  • See John O'Shea for help

Libraries of 3D Things:

  • Expensive $149 USD
  • Useful for complex prints and more control over slicing

  • runs in a the browser in Flash, and at least one person uses it for their router
