3D Graphics

• Open source

Autodesk Fusion 360

• Can generate toolpaths

SketchUp

• Can create STL files (might need a plugin - not checked recently)

TinkerCAD

• Browser-based

OpenSCAD

• Programmatically create 3D models

Processing

• Programatically create 3D models (and many other things too)
• It is possible to generate 3D forms for STL export

Simplify3D

• Expensive $149 USD
• Useful for complex prints and more control over slicing

Vector graphics

Inkscape

• Our tool of choice for laser cutters and vinyl cutter

Adobe Illustrator

• A paid-for product, but for those who already have it, it's a good alternative to Inkscape

JavascriptToSVG, OpenSCAD

• Programatically generate shapes for 2D cutting

SVGnest

• Rotates and moves shapes so they take up least space possible
• Result = Less material used in your projects!

LaserPlacer

• @goatchurch's in-browser line segment collector and drag and placer

JSCut

• fully made up in-browser CAM system

MakerCAM

• runs in a the browser in Flash, and at least one person uses it for their router

KiCAD PCB

• Free, Open source
• Windows, Mac, Linux

Circuits.io

• Browser-based
• Design for electronics, circuits and PCBs

DesignSpark PCB

• Free
• Can create Gerbers, etc.

EagleCAD

• Free version available, but limited
• Desktop schematic and PCB workbench
• Mac, Linux, Windows

Fritzing

• Desktop schematic and PCB workbench
• Open source

Altium CircuitMaker

• Free PCB design tool
