You will find most of the required information in the excellent Mansions of Madness guide and video tutorials for D2E in the section.
Pressing alt+d when the log is open will show dev log entries and the variable list, which can be edited.
If you are still running into issues please provide valkyrie_Data/output_log.txt and a save game (.vSave file in %AppData%/Valkyrie/Save) of the problem and report an issue.
