Open Meeting December 15
- Four hours of drop-in time
- A couple of loosely scheduled demos
- Fedora 6 alpha release - What's our timeline?
- There's a ticket to integrate it with ISLE
- Technical hurdles aren't big
- B-D has offered to do some testing
- 2nd release candidate is coming next week
- Our decision about when we "officially" support will depend on Fedora's timeline. It's not in beta yet. Spring of 2021 may be a reasonable target.
- If we set a goal of being ready when Fedora 6 is officially released, that informs how much time we put into testing and preparing during alpha and beta. Our capacity is low, but we don't want to have to do a big jump when Fedora 6 drops.
- Fedora is trying to make the changes minimal for how we interact. No major API changes. The more testing, and the earlier, the better they can accomodate our needs.

Metadata IG (Rosie)
- notes
- Finished up discussion of Technical Metadata (sort of)
- Lots of talk about communication, based around how to take this document and turn it into action
- Requesting a way to spin up Islandora without Islandora Defaults.
- Use cases need not just "what need to be done," but also why, so that we don't always get the easiest way to accomplish the bare minimum and neglect the real need.
- Retrospectives are valuable, but need to be led by people with the proper training.
- IR interest group (Bryan) - Has not met since last meeting
- ISLE Interest Group (Danny or Bryan) - Meeting was not held last month due to holidays
- Multi-tenancy Interest Group (Brandon) - hiatus continues pending ISLE release
-
Documentation Interest Group (Melissa or Mirko)
- Notes
- Steady updates happening in docs
- Evaluated other doc themes, but it seems we're already using the most popular and best supported theme.
- Looking at some new additions to make to the docs. First step: document Islandora Defaults and all that it does.
- New GitHub group for tagging people to review documentation. Open to anyone interested in reviewing docs, not just the DIG
- Drupal 9 Sprint - Coming up next week. Short notice, but a solid group of volunteers have signed up. Mostly auditing, removing dependencies, and testing. This will make Islandora ready for Drupal 9, so we are ready when all of the modules that we depend on are also on 9. We will be in Drupal 8/9 territory until those all land. Special thanks to DGI for donating a bunch of time for this sprint.
- ISLE work: formalizing the use cases of local, demo, and remote (or prod?). Updates to readme to document it in a human-readable fashion. Within the PR should also be all that you need to over things around from domain to domain without losing your content. This will help with moving from Fedora 5 into Fedora 6 for existing Islandoras. This will also feed into being able to spin up boxes without defaults, and other testing scenarios.
- At some point, we need to discuss our branding. Do we want "Islandora 9", or can we pivot to just "Islandora" as some point?
- Rosie: Doing a lot of work with documentation, particularly concepts. They have some things to bring to the Tech Call to discuss, in terms of nailing down concepts so they can be documented.
- Mike: meeting with academic libraries in CT to launch CTDA Pro and figure out what they want.
- Gabriela: Working with digitization manager to develop ingest workflows for the archives.
- David W: Fedora 6 alpha was the big news
- Dara: Continuing work on i8 theme, getting an install of ISLE i8 with the theme
- Dan: DGI has a few folks hopping on the Drupal 9 sprint. A lot of 9 work internally as well.
- Brandon: Continuing to push the limits of i7, stability-wise. Making small improvements to the code to try to keep things running until switching to i8.
- Amy: Hack-Doc for the ICG coming in January. More info to come.
- Danny: Dealing with Travis; has made the case that we're an open-source project and should still have access to free tier of service. We've been giving credits in the meantime while our request works up the chain.
- Melissa: New member to be announced in January. We've gained two members in 2020!
- Bryan: Continuing migration to ISLE on AWS, using Amazon's RDS service, breaking onto own host for auto-scaling (more Drupals running on same Fedora). Also trying to recreate offline ingest features that FLVC used to provide.
