EDDP Monitor

The EDDP monitor obtains information about changes to the controlling faction for systems as well as changes to the state of the controlling system (boom, war, etc.)

The EDDP monitor uses information sent to EDDN on which to base its messages. These messages come from players visiting the relevant systems, so there are no guarantees as to when or if specific system changes are provided.

Configuring the EDDP Monitor

The EDDP monitor configuration is available in an EDDI tab. It provides the ability for you to select which EDDP events you are interested in.

Clicking on 'Create new watch' will create a default watch that triggers for every state change. If left alone it will generate an event for every state change that is found, but you will probably want to only obtain a subset of the state changes according to your own personal criteria as it is a busy galaxy and there are many hundreds of changes every day.

The first option is to restrict change notifications to a single system. This can be useful if you want to stay informed about your home system, for example.

The second option is to restrict change notifications to a single faction. This can be useful if you want to stay informed about your own faction, for example.

The third option is to restrict change notifications to a single state. This can be useful if you want to stay informed about systems entering the boom state, for example.

The fourth option is to restrict change notifications to systems within a certain distance of your current location. This can be useful if you want to stay informed about the local area.

The fifth option is to restrict change notifications to systems within a certain distance of your home location. This can be useful if you want to stay informed about the area around your home.

If you set any of the above options then they must all be met for information to be provided. For example, if you set the system to "Shinrarta Dezhra" and the state to "Boom" then you will only receive information when the controlling faction of Shinrarta Dezhra enters the Boom state.

Speech responder templates using the EDDP Monitor

System faction changed

This report will provide information when the controlling faction for a system changes

System state changed

This report will provide information when the state of the controlling faction for a system changes

VoiceAttack scripts using the EDDP Monitor

There are no commands in the default EDDI VoiceAttack profile regarding the EDDP monitor however because the Speech Responder templates set context variables you can use a number of commands to follow up on a report, for example "Tell me more about that system" or "How far away is that system?"

Notes

The EDDP monitor requires a TCP connection to the host api.eddp.co on port 5556. If this is not available, for example if you have a firewall that blocks this connection, then the EDDP monitor will not receive any state change notifications.
