Beeftext v1.8 introduces basic support for emojis. You can turn it on by checking the Enable emoji shortcodes box in the Behavior section of the Preferences.

How to use emoji shortcodes

Every emojis has a shortcode, a brief word (or several, separated by underscores). if you enable emoji support in Beeftext, type a |, the shortcode, then another |, and the shortcode and the two colons with be replaced by the corresponding emoji. For example:

|smirk_cat| ➜ 😼
|santa| ➜ 🎅

Beeftext use the emoji list from emojilib. You can find the complete list of emojis here.

Windows support

Emojis are fully supported in Windows 10 and 8.1. Windows 8 and 7 support is back. Other versions does not support emojis.

Note that Windows 10 introduces an emojis menu that allows you to pick an emoji from a pop-up windows. Simply type the WIN + . or WIN + ; shortcut.
