Can you run fast?
- The most generic intransitive verb for going faster on foot than merely walking. (I.e. both feet will be off the ground at some point while running, but not when walking.)
- Avoid intensive terms, specific to running very fast or as fast as possible.
- Avoid terms specifically for animals, where different.
- Avoid terms with further, specific connotations, e.g. jog as specifically running for the purpose of exercise.
- Beware the polysemy of the English lexeme run:
- Avoid terms for flowing or other movement of e.g. liquids, where different.
- Avoid terms referring specifically to the ‘running’ of moving parts of machines.
- Avoid terms that specifically mean ‘function’, ‘manage’, etc..
