WAF and rate limiting

Some of the Data.gov endpoints are protected by the AWS Web Application Firewall (WAF). Occasionally this results in users blocked for scanning via API.

To unblock users, log into the CloudFront AWS account. Go to the WAF service in the AWS console. There are several IP sets under Conditions -> IP addresses. Look for the rate limited IP address in one of these sets.
