Well we ended up not making the timeline as we hoped for, however we are quite satisfied with all the stuff we did managed to get done in 2024, for details see the blog below.
The year started of with guest from Germany, they brought us 40m with special led strip, aluminium profile ultra slim with smokey cover and corresponding cable, we will install this at the same time as we bring the scarfoulding back. Vladimir is carpenter, and he helped us doing all the stairs measurments and planning. They also brought in some wall brackets for PE tube for the water pipe. In january we spent the time getting some smart home switches up running, we cleaned up upstairs(or rather shuffled stuff around), started sparkling the guest buedroom, finished the enova enrgy grading(link), organized the bill for Enova(link) and got offer for the roof lift(link).
In february we got the new sofa in, fianlly after a year we have a sofa aagian, however the kids love to use it as a trampoline to Yulia's big frustration.. We tried spraying it with anti cat smell, however it seems like that spray more like the opposite. However the cat seems to not pay any interest in the sofa any more which is a good thing. At least when we see her.
In march we went to Bilbao to get some streets light, they are now finally installed after some final adjustment to the 3D printed adpater, we also got the outlets to work.
This has neen proven to be very useful when you want to charge your EV and the parking spot is taken for some reason.
In April we made a staircase/flowerbed to cover the cables for the future, it makes the whole entrance area look better and the lawn has become more accesible as well as the robot lawn mower does not need to worry about driving off the cliff.
Together with this we also drove in 15 tractor loads with soil and rocks, we made two stone walls. This has now helped us extend the lawn and the lawn mower can drive in zone A,B,C and E.
In may we spent the time getting up the solar panels, 23 panels in total, however this is just the start.
We also started to build the new deck that will double up as a bike garage aswell to take some of the load of the overfilled garage.
We also cut back a lot on the bushes so that the whole entrance area looks better and should also make it easier to move the bushes in future.
As usual we started of the year by putting in windows. The bay window was the first one, here Leif Otto crane it in place for us, Olav Dalland helped with the strutural bit and Thorgeir Skutlaberg did the insulation and the cladding. We then moved on to the triangualr windows on the south wall, here we used Sigurd Gjuvsland scarfolding.
In march Darek came back with a friend and removed all the old insulation, reinsulated the ceiling and membrane under guidance from Olav Dalland. We also sheetrocked the whole south wall.
In april and may we divided the upstairs into 3 rooms, so that we could accomdate our german guest that cam in begiinging of june. The west side will function as office and guest bedroom untill we do the extension when it will become the bathroom, the east side will be our master bedroom once we have done the roof lift, untill then it will act as an electrical workshop/office and storage room. We also applied for extension to the planning office.
In may we fixed the old dangerous pier, got the welding sticks out and did it properly. We got some help from our german visitors. WE now have a nice fishing and swimming dock. We also got the winch attached to the crane, instead of having it through several pulleys at the dock.
In june we got over kitchen window in just in time for the summer break.
Just back from holidays we got our new pipeline and massive electrical cable in place.
August we spent crazy amount of hours putting up the strip ceiling.
September we installed the solar panels, after months of planning. Luckily we had enough space in fusebox and an empty pipe goig out to the future extension.
October we finally got rid of the old fusebox as seen below
In november we installed the new water conncetion box. After this was done we could finally get rid of the water inlet in middle of the living room and we could then sheetrock the kitchen wall and we started sparkling. We got this fancy in ceiling ledstrip installed as well
December we spent the time finishing the whiskey room, and getting the floor in and painted the kitchen walls just in time for the Xmas party!.
Our firstborn were due in april, and hence I needed to leave for Germany by beginning of March. Before Arianna was born we wanted to have a proper bathroom in place. So we got help from our friend Darek to tile the bathroom and the hallway. Before he could do so we needed to remove some walls.
1 of october we bought the place and the remaining of the year went to clean and throw away stuff since we bought it @current state. And some initial planning started.
