Getting Started

There are many ways to get started. However, one of the most easiest/common way to survive is to play minecraft as you would normally. Punch trees, mine stone, get ores, make a house, etc.

Things won't be much different until the second day. You'll start noticing Mercenaries around, Red and Blue alike. Maybe you'll even see some of them fighting one another. You can choose to fight them if you want, but they'll ignore you for the most part unless you did one of two things:

1. Join a team by finding Saxton Hale and right clicking him, choosing a team via that method. Saxton lives in villages, so find a Village if you wish to go this route.

2. Join a team by finding any mercenary and right clicking em, joining teams via that method instead.

Note: Once you join a team, all enemies of the OPPOSITE team will attack you and hunt you down. Be sure you're equipped enough to handle em. (I recommend iron gear personally)

Once you start killing Mercenaries, they'll start dropping metal scraps. You need about four of em, a block of iron, and a crafting table. Once you have that, you can make a TF2 crafting table! This is what you'll need to get really deep into the mod, so have at it!

Be aware that during this time, you can unlock some contracts! To view contracts, press and hold the reload button (r by default). You can select whichever contracts you want to do, and after a week ingame time, you'll be given more contracts if you have room!

Bosses will rarely spawn in the world, so keep a eye out. They'll ruin your homes and probably your entire being.
