We are pleased to announce the first official release of the Virtual Device Simulator. This software platform, designed with flexibility and user-friendliness in mind, aims to revolutionize how developers create and test embedded software. All information about this project including build and run processes is given in the README of the main folder.

Highlights

The Virtual Device Simulator has the following core objectives:

  • Creation, manipulation, and use of virtual devices: Developers can now simulate hardware devices in the user space of an operating system. This feature reduces the need for physical hardware during development, saving time and resources.

  • Streamlined software development process: By eliminating the requirement for physical hardware, we enable more efficient software development processes. This streamlining makes the Virtual Device Simulator ideal for a wide range of programmers working on embedded Linux applications.

  • Automated testing and validation: Our platform includes features for automated testing and validation. Developers can automatically test communication between the embedded software and the virtual peripheral device. They can also verify the accuracy of data transmission and ensure the correct functioning of all software components.

  • Arrangable test scenarios: Developers can arrange test scenarios as per their requirements. This flexibility allows them to test various use-cases efficiently.

  • Realistic log files: To facilitate easier debugging, the Virtual Device Simulator provides realistic log files that reflect the operations and events within the system.

This release marks a significant milestone in our journey. However, the road doesn't end here. We are committed to enhancing and expanding the capabilities of the Virtual Device Simulator to cater to the evolving needs of the developer community.
