Contributing to the wiki

webratte edited this page Jan 13, 2017 · 6 revisions

This wiki is free to edit by anyone on the GitHub community. You can all contribute and improve it! Just use common sense and notify admins or write to the mailing lists if in doubt.

You are free to create a new page on the wiki if you think it's necessary, but please check if:

  • there is already another page with the information you'd like to contribute
  • there is already another page talking about a topic that fits the information you want to talk about

In the latter case, you should integrate any existing page(s) with the information you'd like to contribute.

General rules for new pages

If you are going to create a new page, please keep the following in mind:

  • Primary language is English: a page should first exist in English and then translated into other languages
  • Decide if the page is for techs or for users. In the latter case, you should use a simple language and avoid too many technical terms and concepts (e.g. use "Personal key" when referring to the personal PGP key pair)
  • Please notify an admin or post to our forum if you are going to include the page in the sidebar

Translating an existing page

If you'd like to translate an existing wiki page:

> This page is also translated into: [[German|[de] Home]], [[Italian|[it] Home]], [[Dutch|[nl] Home]], [[Serbian|[sr] Почетна]]
  • if the page is linked in the sidebar, add a link to the translation using the language code (see existing Sidebar code for examples)

For the sake of maintenance, the following pages should not be translated and should remain in English only:

You can contact anyone of the admins or post to our forum for support. Thanks for your contribution!
