What if TbSync is blocked by my server?

The Exchange ActiveSync protocol allows server administrators to limit sync access to just a few sync clients, like iPhones or other smartphones. If such a restriction is in place and TbSync is not part of the allowed clients, you will not be able to sync your account using TbSync.

You need to get in touch with the administrator of your server and ask them to allow TbSync. This is the default identifier used by TbSync:

DeviceType: TbSync
UserAgent : Thunderbird ActiveSync Lightning/5.9

You may also try to use custom values for DeviceType and UserAgent by setting these advanced settings:

extensions.tbsync.eas.clientID.type
extensions.tbsync.eas.clientID.useragent

But this is considered spoofing and may result in permanent blocking. The above setting is used only while creating a new account, it is not possible to change the DeviceType or the UserAgent of existing accounts.
