Scrollbar customization is not being applied
By default, browsers do not give add-ons permission to run while in Private Browsing mode (also called "Incognito" and "InPrivate"). This is to protect user privacy. If you want Custom Scrollbars to work while in Private Browsing mode, you will need to grant the add-on permission to run in this mode. See No customizations in Private Browsing mode for more information.
NOTE: This section only applies to Opera users.
The Opera browser gives users an extra layer of protection by preventing add-ons from viewing or modifying search results pages. To allow Custom Scrollbars to customize the scrollbars on search results pages, you will need to give the add-on permission to access these pages. See No customizations on search pages for more information.
To improve performance, privacy and security, most browsers prohibit add-ons from accessing certain pages. These often include internal settings pages, pages created by other add-ons and websites owned by the browser vendor. See Pages this extension cannot modify for more information on what pages Custom Scrollbars cannot customize.
NOTE: This section only applies to Firefox users.
Firefox includes a hidden setting that may override the Custom Scrollbars settings in some cases. If you are having issues with the scrollbar width and/or color not being changed by the add-on, please try the following:
- Enter
about:config
into the address bar to open Firefox's advanced configuration screen. - Bypass the warning screen, if it appears. The setting we are changing does not impact privacy or security.
- Type
widget.non-native-theme.enabled
into the search bar that appears on that page. - Double click the preference or press the toggle button to change its value to
false
. - Close all Firefox windows.
Once you have closed all Firefox windows, the issue should go away when you open Firefox.
If the preference does not show on the list, make sure that you have the Show only modified preferences
checkbox unchecked. Having this checkbox enabled may prevent the preference from appearing on the list because you have not previously edited it.
If the preference still does not show on your list, you should see an option to create the a new preference. To do this, make sure that Boolean
is selected as the type of preference and press the Add
button. You may need to double click the preference or press the toggle button after creating the preference to set the value to false
.
