Repairing Gear
Gear can be repaired in one of two ways, with repair kits or an anvil. Anvil repairs will get more durability out of the materials, but at the cost of XP. Repair kits have no XP cost and are easier to use, but are slightly less efficient with materials.
Repair kits and some gear items and parts have a "repair efficiency" multiplier. When performing repairs, the repair efficiency of all involved items is multiplied by the durability of the repair material. Some materials also have a repair value stat, which their durability is multiplied by. This makes some materials more or less effective at repairing items.
Any material that is the same tier or higher than the gear item's tier will work. The relevant durability stat (armor durability for armor and shields, durability for everything else) of the repair material is used when making repairs. Some materials may also have a repair efficiency modifier which effects how well they work as a repair material.
There are plans to add configs to allow more control over what materials are compatible with different items.
There are several tiers of repair kits. The more expensive kits can store more materials and are more efficient with repairs and have higher capacities.
You can optionally fill a repair kit with materials. Place one repair kit with one or more materials in a crafting grid to fill.
Craft a filled repair kit with a gear item to repair it. You can also add additional materials into the crafting grid here if you don't want to fill the repair kit.
Repair kits can use partial units of material. For example, if it only takes half an ingot to repair an item, the other half is left in the repair kit. Any extra materials added into the crafting grid during repairs will be completely consumed instead, even if they exceed the item's durability.
If for some reason you wish to empty a repair kit, just craft it with a stick. All stored materials will be deleted and you get an empty repair kit back. The stored materials are not returned.
Repair kit capacity and repair efficiency can be changed for each repair kit tier in the config.
Works like vanilla. Place the gear item in the left slot and a stack of one or more compatible materials in the right slot. By default, anvil repairs have 50% repair efficiency, same as the azure repair kit.
