Creating a new code

You can create new codes and manage already existing codes on the Codebook screen, which you can get to by clicking on Codebook the in the menu on the left side of the screen. There are two tabs there: Codes and Categories.

In the Codes tab, you can manage codes. On the right side of the screen, there are three buttons. To create a new code, use the top button with the plus sign +. A dialogue window pops up where you have to fill in the name of the new code and select its colour. You can add a description of the code.

When the code is created you will see it on the main screen in your Codebook. Tapping the + icon on the code bar will show the code description.

Merging codes

Merging codes can be used if there are two codes that overlap, for example mother and father, and you want to merge them into a new code parent. First, create a new code called parent. Second, click on the circular icon with two arrows on the right side of the screen.

In the Merge codes dialogue window, select the code that you want to merge from and the code you want to merge into. Hit Merge to execute the operation.

Repeat the same steps to merge the second code. This creates a single code that contains all segments previously coded with mother and father. After merging, you cannot view the original codes or return to them individually. To keep the original codes next to the new common code, create a category instead of merging the codes.

Deleting a code

You can delete codes with the minus button - on the right side of the Codes tab. Select the desired code from the drop down menu and click delete. The code will be deleted from your Codebook. When deleting a code, be careful - once a code is deleted, there is no way to recover it.
