How to add documents
If you want to analyse data in reQual you must first add documents. There are two ways to add a document to your project:
- You can create a document by copy and paste method
- Upload a text file.
We recommend the copy & paste method as it bypasses the character encoding problem. Note that reQual can work only with plain text documents (.txt files). All formatting such as italics, underlined text, distinct fonts, indentation or colours will disappear when adding a document.
When creating a new document by copy & paste, click on the circular plus icon +
on the right side of the screen.
Type your document name and its brief description if you’d like. Open the document you want to add, copy the contents and then paste it into the box Document content
at the bottom of the dialog window. To check that all the text has been copied correctly, enlarge the box and scroll to the end. If everything is okay, press the Create Document
button.
Information about the document will appear on the project screen.
Another way to add a document is to upload a text file. Remember that the file must be in the plain text format (.txt). If your original document is in .docx, .odt, .pdf or .html format, you must save it as a plain text file, such as mydocument.txt, before uploading it.
When uploading a text file, tap the circular upload icon on the right side of the screen.
Enter the name and a brief description of the document. If you do not enter a document name, the original file name will be used instead. Select the document you want from the folder where it is saved. If you know the encoding of the file, select it from the list. If you do not know its encoding, leave it as it is. To upload the file, press the Add Document
button.
Information about the document will appear on the project screen.
If you want to check that your newly added documents have been created correctly, go to the Workdesk
screen and select them from the list.
The document will show.
If some of the characters in your document do not appear correctly, you have the wrong encoding. To fix encoding issues, see our troubleshooting guide on the GitHub wiki (in preparation).
