This is the first data release (DR1) of the UVES Spectral Quasar Absorption Database (SQUAD).

This is a database of 467 high-resolution quasar spectra from the data archive of the Ultraviolet and Visual Echelle Spectrograph (UVES) on the European Southern Observatory's 8-metre-diameter Very Large Telescope.

This is version v1.0, marking the acceptance of the paper for publication in MNRAS and the full public release of the database and spectra.
