Project Roadmap

Planning for future updates to adwaitapod and detailing additions to the theme.

Overall Goal

My biggest aim with the future of adwaitapod is to simplify the codebase as much as possible. Currently there are many differences between each variant of the adwaitapod, this has led to many bugs and lengthened development time. My current vision is for a unified sbs and wps file for light and dark variants of adwaitapod simplified and classic. These would take advantage of developments in vector graphics for Rockbox themes, so that bitmap images would only be used when strictly neccesary. In this vision, only colour codes would need to be changed between both version (something which could easily be automated with bash scripts).

Adwaitapod 4.0

• Update to the new menu system (requires tags to be added to rockbox to expose user menu selector colours) Adding the following:

  • Consistant, smoother rounded corners.
  • A brand new scroll bar in the adwaita style.
  • Music and playlist menus without icons for every item.

• Add the new quicksettings tags to the experimental quickscreen and make it the default.

  • Redesign quickscreen buttons to show subtext.

• Update theme to use Inter as it's default font following recent changes to GNOME.

  • Fix font hinting (if possible).

• Redesign the button-style play indicators to be less confusing.

• Redesign lockscreen player to prioritise track information.

• Add numerical battery display support.

• Redesign Audio Recorder to use more screen real estate.

• Add support for accent colours, possibly through an add-on pack.

Potential Changes:

• Redesign the USB connection screen to have it's own design and show more information.

• Explore updating the spinner to use the new AdwSpinner designs in adwaita 1.6.
