Am I able to run polls without having a moderator in my stream?

Currently there is no way to create polls without either making them yourself, or getting a moderator to make them for you. We understand this sucks, and we have plans to implement some kind of AI to create polls for you if you don't have moderators, or if you would like something to make the decisions for you.

Can we use channel points?

Unfortunately Twitch doesn't provide a usable API to integrate channel points into RimConnect. There are certainly ways to get around it as we have seen people hooking into them, but we're not happy to use those solutions. As soon as channel points are able to be hooked into in a more official way, we'll certainly look at getting them to work with RimConnect.

My silvers seem to have disappeared!

Silvers are on a per-save basis. If the streamer has loaded a new save game, your silvers will reset. If the streamer moves back to a save you used to have silvers on, you'll get them back for that world. This is a design decision we made because it can cause new saves to be dangerously imbalanced if people are able to flood a new world with value without all the other preparations a colony typically need. This decision isn't set in stone though, and if we have a lot of feedback that people don't like this, we can modify it.

Does RimConnect work with services other than Twitch?

Unfortunately it would be a lot of work to get RimConnect to work with other services and there are no plans to do so at the moment.

What's the difference between Twitch Toolkit and RimConnect?

Twitch Toolkit (TTK) and RimConnect both enable viewers to interact directly with a streamer's Rimworld game. TTK uses chat commands to interact with it, while RimConnect has a stream overlay so there is less chat spam when you have a lot of users trying to interact with your game. TTK has been around a bit longer and has more features, but RimConnect is catching up and we hope to take all the best bits that TTK has done and bring them to life in our extension. TTK and RimConnect work well side by side, so feel free to use both at the same time

When I use RimConnect with the Multiplayer mod I get desyncs

This one is a really hard one to figure out. We put a good bit of testing into making sure that MP worked with RimConnect, however there are edge cases that we no doubt missed. There is also always the issue of mod compatibility, we can't be sure if the issue is with RimConnect or one of the mods you're using. If you discover a scenario that causes desyncs please drop by our discord at let us know and we'll try to debug the issue with you

Some of my viewers can't see RimConnect when watching from their phones

Unfortunately IPhone users have trouble seeing the RimConnect overlay because of the way IOS locks down their platform. We'd have to go through some approval process with Apple and we don't have the resources to do this.

RimConnect keeps referring to my old Twitch username

The way we implement names being shown in RimConnect involves us saving away your Twitch name when you first interact with RimConnect. This means that if you change your name you unfortunately won't see this updated. We don't currently have a way to automatically handle this situation, but we're more than happy to help out if you let us know on our Discord.

Why hasn't my idea been chosen?

There are a lot of ideas floating around for RimConnect and there are a few reasons why we might not have implemented your idea. Usually it falls into 4 reasons:

  1. We don't have the time. RimConnect is a hobby for all of the developers and most of us have jobs and lives that take priority. We appreciate all feedback and wish we could implement all the ideas that people want, but there is limit on our time that we can provide to this project.

  2. It's not a priority right now. With many ideas, there needs to be a priority call made. To be able to keep delivering new features we need to pick and choose what's most important, and what we think is going to bring the most value to the project in a timely fashion.

  3. It might not fit exactly what we're trying to achieve. In software development, the worst thing you can do is say "Yes" to everything. This is how you get big bloated systems that try to do everything, and do none of it well. I'm sure most of you have run into some kind of application that is slow, tedious, frustrating, and generally a bit shit.

  4. Let's be honest, not all ideas are equal. Yours might just suck....
