- Issue Review / Roundtable
- Release schedule
- ONIE
- Other business
Roundtable:
- Grant - not much this week; sent email to ONIE and Google folks
- Bill - trying to figure out the importance of true ISO images to EBBR
- These systems won't have CDROM packages
- Is it important to be able to DD the image to a USB drive?
- Grant: it is the easiest for creating a bootable device
- How do we handle separate firmware partitions on an ISO image?
- if everyone agrees that a separate firmware flash is reasonable to ask, then some of these concerns go away.
- Rob: if we include firmware we could be creating a new problem - how does the firmware get updated?
- Daniel - Has been pushing boot from removable media because it is the proof case that EBBR actually works and is valuable.
- Daniel - working on v2 patch, hope to get it posted next week
Release schedule
- What needs to be in the v0.6 release?
- Grant has taken a first pass and marked the issues that should be resolved for v0.6
- Grant would like to tag a v0.6 release by the 3rd week of June
- Daniel takes issue with tagging #11 because it is interpretive
- Should only gate on spec issues, not interpretation
- Need to add AArch32 support for v0.6
- Bill: Does it need to be complete? Or just a placeholder to show AArch32 support will be added before it is released
- Grant: I'm okay with that
- Bill: would like to see a top-25 list right at the beginning of the document laying out what the document is:
- NOT prose
- For example:
- Designed to target embedded / $8 boards
- UEFI firmware interface
- U-Boot, Tianocore implementation
- DT and ACPI supported
- Support commodity distros on embedded boards
Getting buy-in:
Bill: Would be good to get supportive statements from RPi, Bill will work on BeagleBone folks, etc.
