The ‘Legend of Red’ project was born from a client’s desires to create a nostalgic game, similar to the original Zelda game. Games like Zelda were fun, challenging, and most of all, good for playing with friends. The client yearns for the days where he had friends over to play these games and requested a similar game to be created for his twelve-year-old daughter. With that in mind, we set out to create a game whose storyline is loosely based on the story of the Little Red Riding Hood. The player will help the protagonist fight through a forest of wolves, through which she will collect valuable items, and eventually fight a big bad wolf in order to save grandma. The inspiration for this game arose from the target audience demographic, considering the appeal of fairy tales for children that age.
Legend of Red was completed by two developers, Lucy and William. Agile software practices such as testing, pair programming, constant feedback and continuous integration were used throughout the development process in order to create an application that would be fit for purpose. This project taught us a lot of useful skills that would be applicable in the real world of software development.
