Tidy up default-channel descriptions #2072

  • Put more interesting newbie channels first
  • More & better channel cross-referencing (e.g., note work-wanted in contrast to job-posts-only)
  • Put watercooler last, since it is off-topic
  • Give announcements a #

@plaindocs is #meta one of the default channels? Are there any others not documented?

Good point! I'm not sure if it is, but as a "here is where to ask about this slack itself questions" it probably should be?

@ddbeck @plaindocs I just checked, and all our default channels are listed 👍🏻 I can go either way for adding #meta as a default channel - in my head, it tends to be more about stuff like moderation and channel requests, so I don't think newbies are necessarily going to spend a lot of time in it. And no one kicks newbie questions out of #general or #watercooler as it is.

I do think we should make it more obvious on this page, though; maybe we can add it under "other useful topical channels"?

yeah, I think I'm with @janine-c - let's not add it to default channels.
