There have been cases where too new autoconf breaks windows afair (in network package I think). I think we should test on some older distros too. |

oh, and actually, we don't want the generated configure script in the git repo... only in the cabal sdist |

With these changes it builds on my Mac by default. Also doesn't stop working on Linux.
