What is the motivation for your change request?
Contributions to Software are not well covered.

Describe the solution you'd like
Similarly to Authorship, there might be Producer, Provider, Publisher, Sponsor, Maintainer, Contributor, CopyrightHolder. The issue is also that Software doesn't belong to http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/IAO_0000030 hierarchy, therefore we should be careful with definition of domain for relates property.

Hi! @hauschke pointed me to this a while ago and I still owe him to share what I know.

Tagging @sdruskat as a software metadata mastermind - can you help out with a taxonomy of different contribution types for software?

Thanks @nuest for pinging me.

We're discussing software contribution role taxonomies in the Research Software Alliance Task Force "Research Software Authorship and Contribution" with the aim to build community consensus and make a recommendation about which roles to use and implement. As this is a community process, it's taking some time.

In terms of the Citation File Format, we have decided to postpone any decisions on which taxonomy to support until after the task force has completed its work, but will still introduce a free text contributors field in the meantime.

Personally, I think that All Contributors hits about the right resolution level (or "detailedness") and covers many roles already, although terminology needs to be checked (e.g., the leet-ish a11y suggests allyship (e.g., for EDIA) but expands to accessibility which may or may not be a subset of this).
