The Neuropsych Slack workspace is at https://pennbbl.slack.com

Accounts

Slack accounts are automatically created by the BIT team after the supervisor approval step of the new user onboarding.

For external collaborators Slack supports single channel guest and multi-channel guest accounts.

  • Single channel guests are free accounts and you can invite as needed. They only have access to the channel you invite them to.

  • Multi-channel guests are paid accounts and need to be approved. Invite to the needed channels and have your PI approve in #bioinformatics. Multi-channel guests only have access to the channels they are invited to.

  • Full members and paid accounts which have access to the entire lab's workspace. PI must ask for account in #bioinformatics.

Getting Started

You can access Slack through any web browser but we recommend using their applications:

You can download the MacOS and Windows application here: https://slack.com/downloads/

The iOS and Android apps are available on their respective app stores.

Using Slack

We have a Slack Guide for help using Slack.

Channels

Channels are the way Slack organizes conversations.

We have separate channels for studies (e.g. #study_rarencv), office locations (#richards, #10gates), different cores (#clinical, #bioinformatics), and so on.

Everyone when they start is added to the #general channel.

Slack_search_study

Each study has a specific channel.

Third-party Apps

Given the nature of our lab communications (and privacy considerations for all internal and external Slack users) third-party app integrations data and privacy policies must be reviewed before installing to ensure that match lab, PSOM, UPHS, and university rules. Submit apps with the reason for installing to the BIT team.
