Cognition is a magic / tech mod available for Minecraft 1.19.2 and 1.20.1. Prior to release v2.0.0, this mod used to be known as "Experience Obelisk", and added a single block of the same name to the Minecraft. This mod has since been reworked to add more blocks and items apart from the Obelisk, and the end goal is a full-fledged mod focusing on the storage, transport, and manipulation of player XP for all sorts of exciting stuff.
📌 Cognition requires geckolib 3 for 1.18.2 and 1.19.2 versions, and geckolib 4 for 1.20.1. You may also want to install Curios API; this is an optional dependency that allows you to wear items from this mod in Curios slots.
📌 For backward compatibility, the mod id remains "experienceobelisk", which is to say, should you need to obtain the IDs for anything in the game, they will be in the format "experienceobelisk:item_or_block_id".
📌 The config file is named "experienceobelisk-common.toml" and can be found in the config folder of your modpack.
📌 This wiki assumes you have a recipe viewer mod installed. Do note that as of v2.2.1, the viewing of Metamorpher recipes is only supported by JEI.
Q: Any plans for a Fabric port?
A: Given the recent release of a stable version of NeoForge for 1.21, I have decided that this project will be released on NeoForge only from 1.21 onwards. Unfortunately, this means that this mod will not be ported to Fabric for any future or prior Minecraft versions.
Q: When will update 2.x.x be released for version 1.x.x?
A: As of currently, these are the statuses of ports for each minecraft version:
- 1.19.2 -- v2.2.4 released
- 1.20.1 -- v2.2.4 released
- 1.21.x -- Not yet started
As for older Minecraft versions, I will not be able to update, maintain or backport this mod to them. Existing releases (such as 1.18.2) will remain available to download, but they will not be updated past their current mod version.
As you know, the minecraft experience system is non-linear, and levels take more and more XP to fill up the higher you go. As such, to make things simple, the dispeller and all upcoming XP-consuming blocks will have costs measured in points (unless otherwise mentioned).
To make things more intuitive for the player, the absolute level cost is also shown. This is the amount of levels you would have if you started at 0 experience levels, and gained that prescribed amount of points. For instance, 1395 XP would be equivalent to 30 absolute levels. Unlike regular costs in vanilla minecraft like in the enchanting table or anvil, absolute level costs do not scale with however much XP is on your person. Something with a 30 absolute level cost would cost you 1395 XP regardless of whether you have 50 levels or a 100 levels in your XP bar.
The mod and wiki are still a work in progress; more is to come soon! For updates on the progress of the mod, or if you just wanna hang out and chat, join the official Terrarium discord!
