Symphony 2.3 – Realign principles

@eKoes:

Concerning the removal of some gradients:

[Nils] I haven't looked at the realign styles for while before working on these changes and I really got the feeling that we were doing too much. This was especially true fore the table selection and the hover in the drop down navigation. We have to be careful that we don't have every background colour shadowed with gradients - but still this is work in progress and it's all open for discussion.

[Nils] One thing I'd like to achieve is that we update the interface in a Symphony 2 way and don't just copy from Symphony 3.

[Simone] Perhaps we might keep using gradients while reducing the contrast between the colors of each gradient. What do you think?

[Nils] Actually this is what I did in most cases. We need to find a good looking compromise between a flat and a shadowed interface. And we will.

I agree that we shouldn't copy from S3, but there are some cases where S2 is not a good place for inspiration too (e.g. colors for selected/ordering rows). I think there's nothing wrong with having gradients, as long as the interface doesn't look too candy. This said, I'm open for every kind of experiment!
