NextPVR on Linux

NextPVR on Linux supports IPTV, HDHomeRun, digital tuners (DVB-T, DVB-C, DVB-S, ATSC and QAM), SAT>IP tuners and Extras.

NOTE: Ensure that your digital tuner hardware is recognized and loads its drivers (and firmware if required): check dmesg

Linux Limitations

NextPVR is available for many operating systems (Windows, Linux, MacOS and Docker) through the use of Microsoft .Net. Whilst most application functions are available in all O/S implementations there are some limitations to the Linux implementation:

  • ATSC Over The Air Electronic Program Guide (OTA EPG), is not currently available. The Schedules Direct OTA EPG (see here) is recommended and provides much fuller, feature rich content.

Installation from Debian based systems (Ubuntu, Debian, Mint, MX, Raspbery OS, Armbian)

The easiest way to install NextPVR is using the .deb file (thanks Martin for creating it!). Find more information about installing from the .deb file and updating to a new release Install with .deb file.

Manual Installation

If running a platform that does not support .deb files, like Arch or Fedora or to manually install on linux follow this Manual install.

Installing on LibreElec or CoreElec

The NextPVR Server can be installed to run natively in LibreElec or CoreElec following these instructions LibreElec.

Installing on Docker

As most Linux system allow installing Docker you can also install the Docker image.
