My development work has been focused on open-source blockchain protocol software for Bitcoin and Handshake (an alternative DNS root zone and certificate authority secured by proof-of-work). While the majority of this work is written in Node.js I have also enjoyed reviewing pull requests written in C++ for Bitcoin Core and expanding on a light client for Handshake written in C called hnsd. I've also dabbled in Go to review and contribute to both OpenBazaar (a decentralized marketplace) and LND (a Bitcoin Lightning Network server).

I've recently gotten more interested in Handshake and I plan to devote the majority of my efforts in the near future to developing the protocol and releasing applications and documentation to help expand the community and bring new developers on board. I will also continue to support Bitcoin and related projects, as I consider Bitcoin to be the most important software project of the century ;-)

I have a personal Handshake development roadmap that enumerates all the projects I will work on this year as long as funding is available.

In 2015 I invented The Bitcoin Block Clock: a not-boring full node and piggy bank. It debuted at the "Proof of Art" event and since then I have built, synced, and shipped over a dozen units to Bitcoin enthusiasts. The hardware and software are open source.

I was an audio recording and mixing engineer for 15 years, after finishing music school in Boston. Between booked recording sessions I took online programming classes and learned all I could about Bitcoin. I started contributing regularly to Bitcoin Core and bcoin in 2017. Here is my development environment, surreptitiously using studio computers to contribute to open source software.

@pinheadmz

This level of sponsorship means I can focus on open source development full-time. This will cover all my bills and expenses including healthcare which, as a US citizen, is an important and expensive burden usually provided by an employer. If I reach this funding goal I will be able to complete work on hnsd (the light client written in C for Handshake), as well as continue to maintain hsd (the full node reference implementation for Handshake) and provide application packages and support to developers and members of the Handshake community.
