Scratch Projects on Transifex

The Scratch system gets split into several different Transifex projects based on the type of thing being translated. (Transifex calls a set of related resources a project, so we'll use that term.) Once you become a member of the Scratch Translators Team on transifex you will have access to all the Scratch projects. The following two projects are required for a new language to be published on the site.
The most important thing to translate is the Scratch Editor. All of the resources in this project MUST be 100% translated and reviewed.
Note: For some languages it's possible that there isn't an appropriate translation for a particular word, e.g. "Sprite". If you decide to simply use the English word, please copy it into the translation so that it can still be reviewed.
These projects aren't required to get a language published, but they have a large impact on the usability of the site. If you expect most people from your community to log into the Scratch Online Community, you should probably treat these projects as required.
After the Editor, the website is the most important project for translation. The resources in the website are marked as:
Urgent, 
High, and 
Normal
The most critical parts of the site are marked Urgent and should be 100% translated for online users. These correspond to things like the navigation and the footer, the screens for logging or signing up for a new account. The High priority items are still very important and should get translated as soon as possible. They are things like the page for parents or educators. Finally there are the Normal items. This category is for things that are optional. For example, you can translate the developers page, but if people want to work on Scratch as an open source contributor, they will probably need to have some understanding of English in any case because that's the language we work in.
You can provide subtitles for the videos that are used in the tutorials. These are not required. However, having the transcript fully translated is a necessary first step to having a fully localized version of the video. Once the blocks and the transcript are fully translated it becomes possible to create a video with a new voice-over using the translated transcript, and screenshots of the blocks in the language. While we don't have minimum requirements for the following projects, they are still important parts of the system and helpful to have translated.
When you are on the website, you may notice that some of the pages have a different style of header. These are probably still on the previous version of the website. We do not have a requirement for translation of the Legacy Project because many of the strings are no longer used on the site. However, there are several areas that are still coming from this project: Profile pages, My Stuff, Studios and Teacher Classrooms. To make these strings easier to find we have tagged them. In the Transifex editor you can search for strings that have been tagged classroom, mystuff, profile, or studio. There is also a needed tag to find all of them.
Scratchers from your community will definitely find the site easier to use if these are translated.
This project contains the help articles from our FreshDesk knowledge base. You can see the help articles in context on the Contact Us page. After clicking the Get Help button, you can search for a term in the article to show a list of related articles.
The Scratch app for Android and ChromeOS is mostly a wrapper around the Scratch Editor. This project is for the additional user interface elements that are just part of the app. When the translations are 100% translated and reviewed they will be included in the next build of the app.
Many of the Scratch Coding tutorials include additional dialog, for example, "Welcome to Magic School". In order to generate images for different languages we need the dialog to be translated in addition to the blocks. These are not required for a language to be published, but they are very helpful for creating translated versions of tutorials and other resources. There are also instructions for translating the Coding Cards. While they are not in a format that can be uploaded to Transifex, we will announce any changes or new resources in this project.
