Support for "specular" field in Material

Has there been any discussion about adding a "specular" field to Materials in the ROS community?
I've seen that the bullet urdf parser supports it but says it's non-standard. We might have a use case for it in rviz so I am trying to understand if it's been considered before but rejected.
