Local Inspector Value-Entry Specification (LIVES)

Current Version

The current version is 2.0

Overview

The following provides information on the Local Inspector Value-Entry Specification, or LIVES, standard. The LIVES standard originated from a partnership between Yelp, the City of San Francisco, and the City of New York. It provides jurisdictions the ability to publish restaurant inspection information in a format that Yelp can consume and display along with restaurant information on Yelp. More information on the LIVES standard can be found here: http://www.yelp.com/healthscores.

For ease of use in some open data platforms, a flattened schema of the LIVES standard can be found in LIVES Flattened Schema.

The flattened schema provides the Field Name, Data Type, whether the field is Required, and a Description. If a field requires only specific values, they will be contained in the Description for that field. While some fields are not required, it is recommended to include optional fields if the data is available.
