not sure what the idea behind not putting it in there was, but some distros will install them based on if they're in there. theres nothing wrong with the firmware it works fine. would be nicer if it was there with p8

I understand this is for things that have the quirks added to the kernel. I'm working on a patch just confirming dmi info is actually as terrible as it seems and then I'll submit the patch.

That is correct. We only include firmware files in /firmware/linux if there is a corresponding quirk in the kernel. Please confirm here once your patch has been accepted, and I'll merge the PR.
