Rest Studio
requires Chrome Extension for CORS.
Rest Studio
is a web application and does not have native apps for now.
Postman
uses self-hosted server for data sync but Rest Studio
makes use of cloud storage providers for similar purpose. Supports for Dropbox, Google Drive and Baidu Cloud Disk is planned and Dropbox implementation is under active development.
With built-in access control from cloud storage providers you get basic security features by default. For example you can create a project directory which is shared across your team, Rest Studio
is not aware of that but only push and pull data out of the box. Even better you get Read-Only
permission which Postman
does not offer so far.
Postman
supports collection level sync only yet Rest Studio
will support both single-request or collection sync.
Postman
generates a new link for each sync even for the same collection, Rest Studio
syncs content without changing links.
Postman
has more features like test scripts and documentation, if that is what you need for now, go for Postman
or other options. Rest Studio
may add those features with more time but it is not guaranteed.
Though it is rare you would like to deploy your own copy Rest Studio
comes with public docker
image.
Rest Studio
is ported from an old project (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xy9ERHtrTTI&t=1s) going open source, it is now about 20% done.

- Swagger documentation
It is in early stage and not fully functional. Some configuration is hard coded for now.
This project will need chrome + extension to fix CORS issue. (if the server side is configured to accept request from app.rest.studio)
The target is to be able to deploy on your own machine easily. Stay tuned. :)
Rest Studio
is built with the following core dependencies:
- https://github.com/pouchdb/pouchdb
