As far as today (26/05/2019), Xamarin can only be officially developed in Windows or MacOS.

Software needed

This is the same for all platforms.

  • .NET Core - Please download the same version that is in the global.json file in the root of the project.
    • After having everything installed, you can download the Nuget packages by running the command dotnet restore inside the projects folder.
