Python driver/library for the DFRobot Maqueen Plus V1 and V2 robots. And also the HuskyLens camera.
- Open Microbit's MicroPython environment at https://python.microbit.org/v/3
- Under Project, select 'Open'
- Select the driver file for your device, maqueenplus.py or maqueenplusv2.py or huskylens.py
- IMPORTANT - At the next dialog, change the option from 'Replace main code ...' to 'Add file ...'
- Open a file from the examples directory
- This time, leave the option of 'Replace main code ...'
- Click 'Send to micro:bit'
The Microbit is very limited on storage and RAM. A decent sized Python program can cause problems. It can could be too large to fit on the device's Micropython filesystem. Particularly on the Microbit V1 you can easily cause the Micropython compiler to run out of RAM.
If you see errors like this, then you will need to use the versions in the 'minified' directory. Simply substitute the minified file for the original file.
The minified files have undergone the following processing:
- replace any uses of constants with that constant's value (constant_replacer.py)
- remove any definitions of now unused internal (underscore prefixed) constants, which is now all of them (constant_replacer.py)
- rename any underscore prefixed members with a minimal name (using minimal_renamer.py)
- processed with https://github.com/dflook/python-minifier.
The minified files are functionally identical, except any underscore prefixed constants have been removed, and they have had any code wrapped in __debug__
stripped out. If you write client code that accesses any underscore prefixed constants, it will break.
This driver expects that you are using at least firmware V0.5.1a. Instructions for updating are given at https://wiki.dfrobot.com/HUSKYLENS_V1.0_SKU_SEN0305_SEN0336#target_5
In particular, the 'set_text' function won't work in earlier firmware versions. Other functions may work OK, but no guarantees!
