Setup overview

Butt (for live show & recording):

  1. Make sure that Butt version 0.1.18 is installed on you computer. If not, get it from here.
  2. Log in to computer. Note: for the laptop at the studio ask admin for password.
  3. Make sure audio source (typically Mackie mixer output) is connected to laptop via USB.
  4. Make sure that audio source is empowered (mixer is switched on).
  5. Make sure that USB source is selected (Figure 1). Note: if you don't see the USB source, restart Butt.
  6. Make sound check. Level should be in the green/yellow area (not in red!).
  7. Make sure your show is selected. If not, set it up (ask admin for your account data). See Figure 2 for setup details. Save it after setup.
  8. Prepare subtitle for your show (Figure 3). Don't OK before starting live show, it won't take effect. Note: subtitle is mandatory, otherwise bullshit will be shown on the player.
  9. Push PLAY symbol when starting show. Send subtitle by pushing OK TWO TIMES (see step 6). Check on website that you're seeing the right thing. Note: pushing PLAY will automatically record your show.
  10. Push STOP at the end of the show. Don't forget it, otherwise your show will delay others!
  11. The recording of your show will be saved on Desktop with the corresponding timestamp. If your show will be replayed, take/send it home, master it, etc. and submit it at due time.
