Important: version 17.03A replaces 17.03 due to a possible security bypass discovered by users.

Dear Windows 10 users using NVDA,

I'm delighted to announce the immediate release of Windows 10 App Essentials 17.03. If you are using version 17.02, go ahead and check for add-on update (NVDA menu/Preferences/Windows 10 App Essentials, then Update).

Changelog:

  • Improved update download and installation experience: no longer need to respond to a browser window, and no more installation prompts.
  • In Maps app, when street view is active and "use keyboard" option is enabled, NVDA will announce street addresses as you use arrow keys to navigate a map.
  • Improved support for newer style time picker controls found in Creators Update and February 2017 update to Alarms and Clock app.
  • In Settings, added labels for certain combo boxes, Bluetooth passcode field in Devices/Bluetooth (Devices/Bluetooth and other devices in Creators Update) and Game Bar key assignment grid (Gaming/Game Bar in Creators Update).
  • In Settings app, new values are now announced for certain combo boxes.
  • Removed app modules for Bank of America, TeamViewer Touch and Twitter.

Hi Windows 10 users,

I'm delighted to announce the immediate release of Windows 10 App Essentials version 16.11. This is mostly a minor release with localization updates and other enhancements.

Important reminder: Once Windows 10 version 1607 (Anniversary Update) comes to Current Branch for Business (CBB) users, the add-on will drop support for build 10240 (version 1507).
Changelog:

  • In Skype Preview, you can use Alt+number row keys to locate (and move to) contacts list (1), conversations (2) or chat edit field (3). NVDA will warn you if it cannot find these elements, and you need to select the correct tab (radio button) in order to move to the desired part of Skype Preview.
  • NVDA will no longer play error tones or not say things when announcing certain information from Settings/Update and Security/Windows Update.
  • Updated translations.

Enjoy.

Hi Windows 10 users,

I'm delighted to announce the immediate release of Windows 10 App Essentials 16.10.1. This release includes minor tweaks and translation updates.

Changelog:

  • NVDA can now recognize UIA live region changed event as name change events.
  • In Start menu, top search suggestion is brailled.
  • When the add-on starts, UIA handler will not be restarted to add additional event handlers. Consequently, this fixes timeout errors and UIA initialization message is recorded only once in NVDA log viewer.
  • In Settings app, search status such as announcement of when no results are available are announced.
  • Updated translations.

An important note: as of early October, end of support countdown is in effect for Windows 10 build 10240. End of support from this add-on is scheduled for December 2016 or when Anniversary Update (version 1607/build 14393) is declared as business ready, whichever happens later. Also, installing this add-on on computers running Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB (Long-Term Servicing Branch) is unsupported.

Enjoy the new release.
