Welcome to php-introduction.


This file contains 2 sections 1. Install PHP and 2. Install the app

It is currently os x specific.


1.Install PHP:
===============

To run this demo you need apache installed.

If you are on OS X you are in luck. Apache is already installed.

Go to System Preferences --> Service --> WebSharing

You should be able to navigate to:


`http://localhost/`


Should display your apache home page.

http://localhost/~${username} , e.g. http://localhost/~foo if i log in as "foo"

You should see "Welcome to your site" or somesuch.

You can now add content to :

/Users/foo/Sites/

Next thing is to enable php, which should already be on os x. (can proove by typing php --version at command line)

should be about 5.5.5 or greater.

You then need to edit

sudo vi /private/etc/apache2/httpd.conf

(make sure you are sudo-ing)

/php to search for the line:

#LoadModule php5_module        libexec/apache2/libphp5.so

'i' to insert then delete the '#' to uncomment this line.

Then go back to System Preferences --> Service --> WebSharing and uncheck the tick box. wait 1 sec.

You can now replace your /Users/foo/Sites/index.html with index.php

(example file below)

Now if you return to http://localhost/~foo you should see todays date! and NOT lots of php errors.

2. Install the app
==================
You first need to execute "chmod +x go" under php-introduction directory to make "go" command be executable.

You can make bash include pwd in path, execute "sudo vi ~/.bash_profile", add "PATH=.:$PATH export PATH", execute ". ~/.bash_profile"

Then you can check the property values by executing "go report.config".

Secondly, you need to create a machine property file which will tell the build where to put the output (i.e. where your 'sites' directory is).

You should be able to get your machine name from the above property values.

If its a dodgy name you can set it to something sensible with 'hostname foobaz'

then go into src/build

and create "build.foobaz.properties"

you can copy one of the ones that is there.

the main property that needs to be present is:

deploy.server.local.webroot.dir=/Users/foobaz/Sites
