This is probably something to add to

https://github.com/jcowey/P3/blob/master/xslt/pylonFormatting.xsl

This occurs typically in the commentary sections of editions (but could, of course, appear in the narrative anywhere else). The use of word processing keyed in underdots is typically done with whitespace between each underdot. Pylon XML files should have a white space between each underdot.

I imagine this would be relatively easy to write code for in XSLT.
