3.0.6
"AM" 3.0.6 RELEASED!
Now you can create Web Applications based on custom Firefox profiles.
Usage:
am -t $APP
then select the option 6 and follow the instructions.
Any Firefox-based webapp (with suffix "ffwa-
") will follow the normal installation process of all programs managed by "AM". A binary / link / script named "firefox
" must be present in $PATH
(this is already available by installing "firefox" using the command "am -i firefox
", but you can also change the word "firefox
" in the application's launcher, under "Exec=
", replacing it for example with "firefox-esr
" or "firefox-nightly
" and so on ...) to made them work. Optionally install xapp from your package manager (required to show the webapp icon instead of the Firefox logo, both on the panel and in the window manager).
Up to this new release I have uploaded 1318 applications for the x86_64 architecture (of which around 1200 are AppImage packages), but I haven't added any of these Firefox-based webapps yet.
Why add web apps based on Firefox profiles?
Many AppImages are Electron based, so why not add custom Firefox based profiles as well? They are lighter and highly extensible and privacy oriented. Thanks to this new template, I will add new profiles that you can install by searching for the suffix "ffwa-
" in the list of available applications (command am -q ffwa
), making the most of your Firefox installation!
