The macOS issues are likely due to a too old macOS version. I beleive we are running into footnote 6 here: https://matthewbauer.us/blog/darwin-stdenv-update.html

@disassembler is apparently experimenting with one on his desk, but might be busy with life right now.

Well, the current situation is that some of our development team can no longer build our code because they're on a macOS that's too new, so this is quite urgent for us.
