Overview

Project Roots is an innovative solution aimed at addressing neurological health challenges faced by senior citizens, particularly focusing on reducing the onset of dementia. Through personalized cognitive games and reminders, the project aims to stimulate cognitive function and provide support for memory reinforcement. This README provides an overview of the project, its features, techniques, concepts, scope, and achievements.

Features

  1. Word Search: Classic word search game where users find keywords based on hints provided.
  2. Reverse Spell: Users type the reverse spelling of words given by the app (voice cue available). Repeat word option provided.
  3. Picture Quiz: Visual-based questionnaire to reinforce visual memory. Dashboard to track right and wrong answers.
  4. To-do Reminders: Allows users to create, manage, and delete to-do lists (not integrated with Firebase yet).

  • Flutter: Utilized for mobile app development, providing a smooth user experience across platforms.
  • Firebase: Backend database used for storing crucial information collected through user queries.
  • Personalization: Tailored cognitive games and reminders based on individual user needs and preferences.
  • Validation: Collaboration with Cognitive Specialists and neurologists for idea validation and user understanding.
  • User Feedback: Engaged patients and caregivers from Old Age Homes and Care centers to understand and address real needs.
  • Business Development: Explored avenues of business and entrepreneurship, including market research, profit margins calculation, and business model iteration.
  • Social Impact: Aimed at reducing cognitive decline globally and alleviating the burden on caregivers through innovative solutions.

  • Impact: Project Roots has positively impacted over 350 users across the state, providing tangible benefits in cognitive health support.
  • Recognition: Won 5 Lakh INR for winning from Cisco ThingQbator and the Nasscom Foundation, providing the platform and resources to develop the project.
  • User Satisfaction: Seeing smiles on users' faces served as the ultimate reward, reinforcing the impact of the solution in real-time.

Steps to Run the Project

  1. Download or Clone the Repository:

  2. Install Dependencies: flutter pub get

  3. Run the Project: Choose web mode when prompted. (The app currently runs only in web mode.)

With a vision to expand its reach globally, the project aims to continuously improve and collaborate with healthcare professionals and users to enhance the quality of life for senior citizens worldwide.
