I think it would be good to have a clear notice on the dashboard web UI letting the users know what's the semantic difference between a FAIL and an ERROR and inviting the user to report issues on the fb tracker if an ERROR is seen.

  • The easy way is to always display this message.
  • The hard (but better) way would be to detect when an ERROR occurs and then display the message with a "new issue" link to the FB tracker.

I've just added this feature on the text terminal reporter at fonttools/fontbakery#2823

Please consider using similar wording for the web-dashboard UI.

Could this 'Meaning of checks' feature also be included in the Fontbakery/report.md?

Currently it is not included, and so it is missed when you read the report in a Markdown reader such as http://jbt.github.io/markdown-editor/ or MacDown app
