I did really appreciate the effort but I cannot merge your PR because I have a different vision for this feature and it will land into 3.1.0
You will be able to pass in your custom style module function directly as type in the options
I hope you will be OK with it

ps: when you contribute to a project make sure you follow the same formatting (e.g. I don't use semicolons here)
