We've got code here that should be generalized but hasn't (and hence gets repeated), as well as a bit of array hell.

In a v2 it would be nice to have a base field classes with methods for things like getOptions so that we could deal with "normalizing" discrete properties of a field rather than do all this in a big foreach loop.
