Group layouts
Group Speed Dial allows you to choose from multiple layouts, in general, they can be divided into two categories:
-
fixed layout - will keep your existing dials in their place, even if you add or remove one dial (it's like deleting a single cell in the Excel sheet).
To use a fixed layout, choose Grid / Fill space / Center dials or Scroll dials -
dynamic layouts - will automatically create empty dial at the end, and removing or adding a new dial in the beginning, will shift all other dials. This is how most "speed dial" extensions works, but it may not be the best choice if you have many dials.
To use a dynamic layout, choose Dynamic or Dynamic list layout.
This most advanced layout:
- individually resize each dial
- place each dial anywhere in the grid
- supports up to 36 x 36 cells
- choose from one of 3 grid positions:
- Fill space: flexible grid that always fills the screen space
- Center Dials: fixed grid, where each grid cell a square, and dials are in the center of the screen
- Scroll Dials: fixed grid, where each grid cell a square, and dials can be scrolled if you add enough rows

This layout is most known from other speed-dial like extensions.
The main characteristics are:
- there is always a single empty dial at the end (for adding new dial)
- removing first dial will shift all other dials (to fill the empty space)
- due to dynamic nature, it works great on all display sizes (including phone/tablet)
Similar to "Dynamic layout" above, but without thumbnails.
Ideal for big list of similar pages:
This is the default layout you see on your home group when you install this extension. The main characteristics are:
- it's a fixed layout (dials stays on their places, empty dials are allowed anywhere)
- dials will always fit the screen (so their width/height will change if you resize your browser window)
Similar to "Fill space layout" (fixed layout), but:
- dials have a fixed width/height ratio (resizing window can make them smaller or bigger)
- dials are always in the center of the screen
Similar to "Center dials layout" (fixed layout, fixed width/height ratio), but:
- dials are aligned to the top
- you can have high number of rows (you will be able to scroll dials down)
