Revert "updating pork and beans recipe" — the changes were terrible, …

perfectly good bacon.

1940 Cal (4x 485)

1 1/4 cups 13 Bean Soup Mix
6 cups water
2 Tbsp. olive oil
1 onion, diced
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 lb. cubed pork roast or bacon
* heat oil in large pot and saute onion and garlic for 5 minutes
* add pork/bacon and brown

2 cans beans (great northern)
6 cups water
1 lb. pork roast, cubed
1 bay leaf
1 Tbsp. brown sugar
1 tsp. thyme
1/2 tsp. pepper
salt to taste (omit if using salt-cured bacon)
* bring to a boil then reduce heat to a simmer until pork and beans are tender (about 1 hour)

* boil beans in 6 cups water for 5 minutes, then cover and soak for 1 hour.
